Founder biography

Charlie Ross MacKenzie has a wide range of experience in the fields of education, creative arts, broadcasting, entertainment and performing arts.

Education

After retiring from performing full time, Charlie returned to his first profession as a teacher. In a short time he moved from drama teacher to middle and senior leadership, more recently as an Assistant Head Teacher.

In this capacity he:

● Directed and produced school productions.

● Coached and prepared students for UCAS/ Further Education applications.

● Coached students on presentation policy.

● Directed and coached acting and performing arts skills to prepare students for Drama schools and colleges.

Creative and Performing Arts

For over twenty years Charlie built a successful career as a stand-up comedian, actor and writer.

As a stand-up comedian he successfully toured the UK comedy circuit playing at all respected clubs including the world-famous Comedy Store. He has made appearances on television and more notably on radio as a presenter and contributor on various shows for BBC Radio 5Live and BBC Radio Scotland, as well as for several independent broadcasters. He wrote four highly regarded shows for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and has written for many other top comedians.

He has taught other aspiring comedians including Darren Connell (BBC TV’s ‘Scot Squad’) and has performed alongside comedians such as Frankie Boyle, Russell Howard and Kevin Bridges.

As an actor he has made many appearances on stage in plays such as ‘King Lear’, ‘The Taming of the Shrew’, ‘Façade’ and many others, and in audio plays on the successful ‘Doctor Who’ audios range for Big Finish Productions and the BBC.

Recently his playwright skills have led to success, penning and appearing in his own play ‘I F****g Love You’ in London, winning an Off West End award for Best Short Play. His new play ‘You’ll be the Death of Me’ will be coming to a London theatre in 2025.

He has worked on presentation and delivery skills for many top performing arts professionals including Richard Gadd (writer ‘Baby Reindeer’, Netflix) and as a dramaturg for Hollywood film director Michael Hoffman (‘Soapdish’; ‘One Fine Day; ‘Restless Natives’; ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’).

Charlie comes to you with a wealth of public speaking appearances in education and the performing arts. He has successfully coached clients from school students to international television stars.
